Southern Indiana Home Sales are Down
Press Release For: Thursday, August 04, 2011
JEFFERSONVILLE — (August 4, 2011) — According to the latest data compiled by RE/MAX of Indiana, the number of homes sold in Southern Indiana in June 2011 were down 8 percent compared to June 2010. However, despite this decrease in home sales during the month of June compared to June 2010, the trend for month-to-month data of closed home sales shows a significant improvement for the 14-county area.
“The number of homes sold in April, May and June of this year have all been down when compared to the number of homes sold during the same period in 2010,” said Dan Breault, executive vice president, regional director of RE/MAX of Indiana. “However, each month’s comparison to 2010 has gotten progressively better, moving nearly 14 percentage points in three months. If this trend continues, Southern Indiana’s real estate market could very soon be back on the plus side.”

Jeffersonville RiverStage
RiverStage is a floating barge on the banks of the Ohio River in Jeffersonville Indiana south of Spring Street that offers free entertainment including shows, concerts and movies. There is an amphitheater on the river bank for audience seating. The venue operates under the supervision of the Jeffersonville City Council Parks & Recreation department.
The City of Jeffersonville has recently invested in a new barge for RiverStage. The new barge is larger and will be used year round. The new 60 foot wide by 260 foot long barge, expected to be ready by 2012, will be three stories and will have a ballroom and a 220 seat theater and will be available for rentals.
Jeffersonville is putting a lot of money into development of its downtown. It is also in close proximity to Louisville, KY and will benefit from the development in downtown Louisville. The focus on development makes Southern Indiana is a great location to buy a home.
